1. Our Commitment to Privacy
Flixanta is built on the principle that your personal data should belong to you and only you. We do not require accounts, we do not operate any backend servers that store your data, and we do not collect your watch history, ratings, notes, or collections. Everything you create in the app — ratings, notes, collections, and watch history — lives solely on your device.
The app may display advertisements through a third-party advertising SDK (IronSource). That partner may collect certain device and usage data to deliver and measure ads, as described in Section 6.3 below. We do not sell your personal information.
In short: Your film data stays on your device. We do not collect it. Ads are served by IronSource, which may collect limited device and ad-related data under its own privacy policy.
2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Flixanta stores the following data exclusively in local files on your device. None of this data is accessible to us:
- Watch History: Films and TV shows you have marked as watched
- Watchlist: Films and shows you plan to watch
- Ratings: Your personal 1–5 star ratings, including optional multi-dimensional ratings (story, performance, visuals, music, pacing)
- Notes: Short text notes you write about films you have watched
- Collections: Curated film lists you create and manage
- Preferences: Genre preferences, year range preferences, and rating thresholds derived from your activity
- Achievements: Locally-computed badges unlocked based on your viewing and rating activity
- Recommendation Cache: Temporarily cached movie recommendations for faster loading
3. Data You Can Choose to Share
Flixanta includes a Share Card feature that lets you generate beautiful image cards from your ratings, collections, or achievements. These cards are rendered entirely on your device. When you choose to share a card, the resulting image is passed to the iOS system Share Sheet, which you control. Flixanta does not transmit the image or any related data to any server. The sharing destination (Messages, social media, etc.) is entirely your choice.
4. Network Access
Flixanta makes network requests for the following purposes:
- TMDB API: To fetch movie and TV show information (titles, posters, descriptions, cast, ratings) from The Movie Database (TMDb). These requests are anonymous and do not include any personally identifiable information.
- Image Loading: To download poster and backdrop images from TMDB's image servers.
- IronSource (Advertising): To load, display, and measure in-app advertisements. These requests may include device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data as permitted by your device settings and applicable law. Flixanta does not include your watch history, ratings, notes, or collections in these requests.
Flixanta does not send your watch history, ratings, notes, collections, or any other locally stored film data to TMDB or IronSource.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
All your data is stored locally on your device. You have full control:
- Delete Individual Items: You can delete any rating, note, collection entry, or watch history item at any time through the app interface.
- Clear All Data: You can clear all of your local data through the Settings menu in the app. This removes every locally stored file.
- Uninstall the App: Deleting Flixanta from your device removes all associated local data permanently.
6. Third-Party Services
6.1 TMDB (The Movie Database)
Flixanta uses the TMDb API to fetch film and TV show metadata, poster images, and related content. TMDb is a community-built database. Please refer to TMDb's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle API requests.
This product uses the TMDb API but is neither endorsed nor certified by TMDb.
6.2 Apple App Store & iOS Services
Flixanta is distributed through the Apple App Store and may use standard iOS system services (such as URLCache for image caching). Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles device-level data.
6.3 IronSource (Advertising)
Flixanta uses IronSource (a Unity company) to show advertisements in the app, including formats such as rewarded and interstitial ads. IronSource and its advertising partners may collect and process information to deliver, personalize (where permitted), and measure ads, prevent fraud, and improve ad performance.
Depending on your device settings and the permissions you grant, this may include:
- Device identifiers: Such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking, or other device-level identifiers (e.g., IDFV)
- Device and app information: Device model, operating system version, language, time zone, and general app usage related to ad delivery
- Network information: IP address and connection type, which may be used to infer approximate location
- Ad interaction data: Impressions, clicks, and completions of ads you view or interact with
On iOS, Flixanta may request permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before accessing the advertising identifier for cross-app tracking. You can decline this request; the app will still function, though ads may be less relevant. You can also limit ad tracking at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
IronSource may share data with third-party ad networks and measurement partners acting on its behalf. For full details on what IronSource collects, how it is used, retention, and your choices, please review the IronSource Privacy Policy and, where applicable, Unity's Privacy Policy.
IronSource operates as an independent data controller for advertising data it collects through the SDK. We do not control IronSource's data practices and encourage you to review their policies and opt-out options.
7. Children's Privacy
Flixanta does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. We do not require accounts and do not collect your film-related data. Third-party advertising services used in the app may be subject to additional restrictions for users in certain regions or age groups. The App Store's age rating applies to the app as a whole.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app's functionality or applicable regulations. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
